VOTING IN THE WARRNAMBOOL COUNCIL ELECTION –I am a regular user of the boat ramp and harbour facilities and have a detailed knowledge of the issues fishermen face when using this ramp. I am tired of excuses. I am perplexed and frustrated with the lack of action. I am mystified by council’s willingness to just put this project in the “too hard” basket and not jump at the opportunities that our harbour can offer.

As you may know I am running for council. I am also Secretary of the Warrnambool Offshore and Light Game Fishing Club and lead organiser of the Shipwreck Coast Fishing Classic.

Our harbour should be a major drawcard for our city. It should be providing significant economic and social benefits to our businesses and residents. It should be a facility we are proud of. It should be a tourism drawcard that really puts Warrnambool on the map. It should be – but it’s not. Our council seems oblivious. Our council seems pre-occupied with in-fighting which has resulted in little or no action. Our council seems to be confusing issues, and delaying decisions by requesting more studies. And our council just can’t seem to take advantage of grant opportunities – but Portland can.

So how are we possibly going to get council on side? What we need is a person on council who can provide the right information to other councillors, answer questions, and clear up any confusion. What we need is a person on council who can lobby for the benefit of the community. What we need is a person on council who is qualified and experienced to talk with authority on these issues. I am sure you agree. And this is one of the main reasons I am running for council. I am up to the job and up for the challenge. I am stubborn as hell and will fight relentlessly for what I believe in. I also have 12 years’ experience as a development consultant, primarily with large scale developments in the coastal zone. I also have a Degree in coastal management. I am qualified to assess the reports. I am qualified to make the decisions.

I would encourage you to think carefully before you vote to ensure the candidate you vote for has your best interests at heart. I have no hidden agendas. I just want to see our harbour progress. And this is where I need your help to get elected to council. I am asking for your vote. I am asking to be your representative so I can pursue these issues and get some action! Our harbour should be the showpiece of Warrnambool.

Attached are photos of my “How To Vote Card”. Hopefully you will receive this in your letterbox over the next week or so. Please have a read and vote accordingly if you think I am your preferred candidate.

I you are keen to assist my campaign in any way just contact me. All support is very welcome! This could be just liking and sharing this post. Every bit counts!

Thanks for your support.

To throw another spanner in the works our fishing club will likely be seeking approvals within the next council term for extensions to the WOLGFC clubrooms. Our current facility is just too small to cater for such a large club. We need additional storage areas. We need additional room to hold social events. We need additional room to display our trophies, plaques, and the history of our club.

So how are we possibly going to get council on side? What we need is a person on council who can provide the right information to other councillors, answer questions, and clear up any confusion. But I would encourage you to think carefully before you vote to ensure the candidate you vote for has your best interests at heart. I have no hidden agendas. This could be dropping a few “how to vote” cards in letterboxes or just placing a few cards on the counter of your local shop. Just message me and I will get you the cards you need.
